Last Saturday

Last Saturday me and my neighbour/co-worker Justin decided to go on a mini-adventure. We knew there was a big stone Buddha somewhere sorta near our place and so we decided to go find it. Along the way it became necessary to seek sustenance. We stopped at a bright and clean place to eat up some 'naeng-myeon' (냉면). This is a very popular summer time dish in Korea, and consists of these weirdly chewy noodles in a cold broth accompanied by a few slices of boiled meat, some boiled egg and maybe some radish or something. I don't actually like it that much (I find the noodles strange) but I do usually have it once or twice a summer. This place served up a pretty good one, though the broth was strangely sweet. Here's us eating the noodles:

After filling our bellies we found the big stone Buddha place with little difficulty. The temple compound it was part of was also beautiful which matched the beauty of the day.
The scale of the structure is hard to see here, but this is a very large statue. It can be seen from quite a distance.

On our way home we decided to stop in and see friend/coworker Shane, who was cleaning up his new digs in prepartion of a house move the following week. When we caught up to him, he was bleach stained and weary, taking a beer and smoke break in the corner of his very clean new place:
